My dresses are very reasonably priced, for dresses that are cut on the body. Give me time and I’ll give you a revolution. My aim is to make the poor look rich and the rich look poor. I’m used to always deciding everything myself. It’s a blessing, but also a terrible defect. Today, I’m very happy about myself, because I realized my dreams. I learned how to understand what people want. Fashion never stops. There is always the new project, the new opportunity. Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening. My customers are successful workingwomen.
“I believe that my clothes can give people a better image of themselves – that it can increase their feelings of confidence and happiness.”
I remember walking the dog one day, I saw a car full of teenage girls, and one of them rolled down the window and yelled, 'Marc Jacobs!’ in a French accent. A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous. Men have got more of a discerning eye. They appreciate cut and details, things that aren’t so obvious. They like things that have cachet and gentlemanliness. Fashion fades, only style remains the same. A woman has the age she deserves. I am not interested in the past, except as the road to the future. My learning process is by eye alone; it’s not.
